Cahuenga Terrace was approved as a new subdivision in 1923. It starts at Cahuenga Boulevard close to the Cahuenga Pass and ends on the east side of Cahuenga Boulevard between Whitley Terrace and Odin Street. Following the 1926 completion of improvements to the Cahuenga Pass roadway, construction in the surrounding hills boomed. One of the most significant historical landmarks on the street is 6533 Cahuenga Terrace. Built in 1923 and designed by architect J.S. Powell, it was one of the first homes in California constructed to be fully electrical. It was an architectural replica of the Petit Trianon at Versailles. While "The Beaux Arts" chateau at 6533 was originally built for this famed opera prima donna Maude Lillian Berri, actor Richard Arlen and author Nathanael West also lived on this street.
