Ivar Avenue begins just north of Fountain Avenue near Cahuenga Boulevard and Homewood Street and runs north and ends at Vine Street after it circles around Mound Street.  Ivar Avenue is a historic street in Hollywood, Los Angeles, named after Ivar Weid, a Danish immigrant and early Hollywood pioneer.  A portion of the street was demolished during the 1010 Freeway construction in the 1950s.  Many of the original homes were built in Spanish Colonial Revival and Storybook styles to attract "movie people" looking for a hillside refuge.   A few earlier structures exist, such as Craftsman houses built between 1910 and 1915.   Notables on the 200 and 2100 blocks in the Dell include; actress Linda Hopkins, writer Preston Strugis, director Melville Brown, and writer Frank London.
