2281 Holly Drive, a 2-story Spanish style home, was built in 1923 by S.R. Offett and Reed & Company. The 1,800 square foot home sits on a double lot, has an original Batchelder fireplace in the living room, four bedrooms and two baths. Actress Eleanor Boardman briefly rented this home in 1924 before moving to Whitley Heights. She married director King Vidor, whose parents, Charles and Kate Vidor, rented this home from 1927 until Charles' death in 1931.
L.A. Law actress Michele Greene purchased the home in 1987 and sold it in 2010, trading Hollywood Hills for Lake Arrowhead. Green was nominated an Emmy award for Best Supporting Actress in a Dramatic Role in 1989 and has guest starred in several tv shows including; Eight is Enough, The Dukes of Hazzard, Simon & Simon and CSI: Miami. She has recently became a novelist, writing under the name Michele Dominguez Greene, writing a half dozen fictional crime thrillers.
The first floor of 2281 Holly Drive consists of a foyer, leading to the living room on the left, dining room to the right, kitchen and office room in the rear.
Stairs lead to the second floor where there are three bedrooms and a bathroom.
Surrounding the house are two private patios, a roof deck, a spacious yard with rose bushes and a vegetable garden.
The house was featured in a 1990 edition of Architectural Digest when Greene was residing here. Unfortunately the house was also involved in several disasters. On May 24, 1946 a water pipe broke on the property, flooded the basement and lawn, cascading over the four foot wall, dumping 120,000 gallons of water onto Holly Drive when actor Gurney Bell lived there. Bell put the house on the market two months later. A similar situation happened to Greene when she lived there in 2001. She also had to repair her fireplace in 1994 due to earthquake damage. At least is can be said that this house has survived several disasters.
